The trail begins at the Kurkar car park about 3 km. south of the Rama intersection and ends 1.5 km. to the south by an ancient structure – a watering hole and a bridge, under which the stream flows towards the Tzalmon reservoir and then continues into the Kinneret at Kibbutz Ginossar. The trail follows the gully of a wadi close to the road, through carob trees, Palestinian oaks, terebinths, mastic trees, shrubs and climbers (such as raspberries), and fruit trees (such as figs, dates, citrus and olives). The stream is rich with water vegetation, and mint and peppermint are particularly noticeable. Along the route is an old structure that served as a flourmill with a courtyard beside it. The trail is full of water all year round. The flowing water of the stream was well utilized for orchards, building aqueducts and for flour mills.
This is an easy trail that combines nature and scenery, flowing water all year round, rich river vegetation and beautiful shady woodland, aqueducts and flour mills. We recommend walking in the direction of the flow, from the upper car park to the watering hole.
The stream is surrounded by mountain ranges – Mt. Camon, Mt. Hazon, the Mt. Meron range and opposite, the hills of the Lower Galilee, between which the Tzalmon stream meanders, with its aqueducts, flour mills, rich river vegetation and colourful woodland and undergrowth, year-round flowing water and natural pools.
